Position Summary

 

The Senior Marketing Manager, Email Communications supports the development of complex member-centric, multi-channel marketing and communication strategies through the email and mobile notifications channels, driving improved membership acquisition and engagement.  This position is proficient at identifying strategic opportunities, developing & packaging strategies, collaborating with partners to gain alignment, and directing execution through direct reports from launch through measurement. 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gathers and leverages consumer or member insights from multiple sources to identify strategic opportunities for the email and mobile channels, with recommendations to optimize strategies across channels
  • Acts as subject matter expert on the standard methodologies supporting email and mobile notification marketing automation in order to continuously improve campaign efficiency, accuracy, and proposals to further enhance campaign/program performance
  • Creates and manages email and mobile notification campaign planning, segmentation, end to end journey configuration through execution and QA in Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Supports/Collaborates on complex multi-channel strategies to drive membership acquisition, retention, or product engagement through the email and mobile notification journeys
  • Partners with internal marketing strategists/analysts and technologists (IT) to optimize and execute strategies in context of channel best practices, technology/data needs, and project objectives
  • Partners with internal creative team, directing marketing asset creation to ensure channel best practices and process from concept through delivery
  • Develops, executes and reports on testing plans that drive improved performance
  • Measures channel performance against defined metrics, partnering with internal marketing strategists/analysts and analytics teams
  • Packages and delivers campaign results to key stakeholders in an effective, timely manner
  • Manages project, people, vendors and financial allocations to maximize immediate and long-term business results
  • Hires, manages, coaches and develops direct report(s) & broader team in a caring, effective manner​

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, Master's Degree Preferred
  • 8+ years relevant marketing experience
  • Proficiency in directing work, coaching, and developing team of direct reports
  • Proven experience in collaborating and managing timelines with all partners ensuring that their needs are met and goals are achieved
  • Ability to lead vendor relationships for the benefit of the Company 
  • Solid background in building and supporting user journey implementations (email required; mobile notifications preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with leading ESPs (Salesforce Marketing Cloud/ExactTarget experience strongly preferred)
  • Knowledge of email rules and regulations including CAN-SPAM, CASL, EU Privacy Directive, and blacklisting
  • Principles of responsive email design
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS/Ampscript 
  • Database proficiency with understanding of data flow and queries
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in reporting and BI tools
  • Knowledge of A/B test strategies, multivariate test strategies, and test planning 
  • Attention to detail and an eye for quality
  • Deep understanding of email marketing standard methodologies, marketing communication channel standard methodologies and changing industry trends, especially for mobile ​
