POSITION OVERVIEW:

New York City FC is seeking a creative and experienced Social Media Copywriter with excellent copywriting skills to help tell the story of the Club across owned and operated channels. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Photography & Social Media and Social Media Producer, this role will help lead the daily ideation, planning, and posting of content with an emphasis on emerging platforms, including (but not limited to) Instagram, TikTok and X.

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Contribute to the day-to-day planning and execution of publishing across the Club’s social channels with a strong focus on Instagram, TikTok, X and emerging platforms
  • Execute brand voice that is representative of the organization’s tone and values
  • Monitor social media platforms for cultural trends, identifying opportunities relevant and timely posts to express the Club’s personality and values in engaging ways
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, while keeping organized and maintaining high standards in all work
  • Syndicate social content to key stakeholders, including club, league and media partners as needed
  • Follow brand guideline specifications and ensure consistency on quality during production
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary throughout the season

 

SKILLS:

  • 1-3 years social media admin experience for a brand or professional organization
  • Experience concepting, pitching, and editing content from start to finish, with strong creative visual storytelling skills and attention to detail on publishing
  • Finger to the pulse on sport-adjacent cultural spaces, ex: fashion, gaming, music
  • Basic video editing experience as well as a basic understanding of and comfort level with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong eye for social-friendly content, with ability to understand what will perform well
  • Understand social analytics & trends to know the best types of content to use on respective platforms
  • Must be able to follow instructions and learn from constructive criticism when given and be a team player collaborating to support business goals across the organization
  • Must have excellent communication and collaboration skills

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary

COMPENSATION:

This non-exempt position has an estimated annual base salary of $55,000 and is overtime eligible. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise. We welcome direct conversations with each candidate about compensation in all of our initial calls.
