The Director of Supporter Community and Fandom will play a vital role in the strategy development and execution of the LA Clippers efforts involving supporters and fandom. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Director will be responsible for the long-term strategy, creative vision, program development, communication, ideation and execution of the LA Clippers fan communities. This position will also be responsible for building out an adequate staffing plan and will oversee staff related to the fan supporter group. In essence, this role is all about reimaging the Clips Nation Experience & taking the 51 uninterrupted rows of Clippers Super Fans to build the NBA's best home court advantage.

This position will work closely with Brand, the Director of Game Presentation, our Community Relations and Ticket Sales & Service Teams to ensure that the supporter group is adequately integrated into the organization and that strategy and execution delivers on key objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Lead development of our long-term Supporter Community and Fandom strategy
  • Support Ticket Sales & Service team with the development & marketing of our ticket/membership sales strategy
  • Develop in year programming consistent with our brand equity and long-term goals in mind
  • Develop new strategies and opportunities consistent with our brand positioning (ie. Merchandise, technology integration, etc)
  • Work regularly with Brand, Community Relations, Game Presentation and Ticket Sales & Service teams to construct an overall vision for the fan supporter group
  • Take a leadership role in building and maintaining relationships with supporter groups and the fan community
  • Develop and schedule engaging fan events that increase fandom, group presence and community involvement
  • Design efficient and engaging game day cadence and event show content, working with Director of Game Presentation for game day integration
  • Communicate and assist supporters with game day related needs including serving as a liaison with arena operations, game presentation, and ticketing.
  • Create incentives for the fan supporter group that keep the group engaged, motivated, and striving to continuously excel
  • Schedule any requested video shoots or internal and external appearance requests
  • Oversee staff related to fan supporter group, including part time sales staff and game night staff.
  • Assist the marketing team with grassroots marketing programs and efforts.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Your Background, Skills and Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Marketing Experience (previous experience in live fan engagement connected to event presentation a strong asset)
  • 3+ years of demonstrated people leadership with a proven track record of coaching & developing world class talent
  • Strong strategic thinker with a track record of delivering results
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently – high sense of urgency and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Passion for fandom and a desire to service fans and supporters with a “make it happen” attitude.
  • Exceptional execution & communication skills, business savvy and an opportunity seeker
  • Strong project management, prioritization skills & ability to manage multiple projects at different stages of development
  • Demonstrated ability to influence & build strong relationships with key stakeholders as well as inspire a large group of individuals.
  • Ability to anticipate issues and resolve them based on sound business judgement
  • Basketball and sports or event knowledge preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish an asset
  • Ability to work nights/ weekends/ holidays as required
