The Director, Social Media Strategy will lead the planning, alignment and management of all Clippers social media campaigns, developing content strategy and leading its execution across all social media platforms. Director will be responsible for fitting social media content into the Clippers’ overall digital content strategy and meeting overall business and basketball operations goals and benchmarks. Essential to the position is the ability to lead a social media team, creatively lead content production, grow and engage domestic and international audiences and execute overall digital and social strategies while maintaining brand integrity and consistency.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and develop the overall social media strategy to drive engagement and increase followers
  • Lead and develop a team of employees dedicated to social media strategy execution, including providing day-to-day leadership and best practices for overall professional and platform growth
  • Advise on overall digital content goals as related to social media strategies, best practices and guidelines
  • Define, build and amplify a consistent brand and channel voice across all platforms
  • Oversee expansion of reach and engagement of L.A. Clippers owned social media channels
  • Develop and oversee the social media calendar and its content execution across multiple content pillars
  • Execute timely, innovative daily content to engage followers and grow the brand and its following
  • Lead creative ideas and brainstorming relative to social media strategies and content executions, maintaining the Clippers as a leader in the innovative social media space
  • Collaborate with Partnership, Communications, Marketing and other internal departments to execute content programs, working with talent and building social influencer campaigns
  • Create, implement and maintain social media guidelines for all platforms
  • Lead and cultivate smart, strategic partnerships with brands and influencers that support overall business objectives
  • Lead digital goal setting, oversee paid media campaigns, lead-gen and monetization strategies
  • Attend and cover necessary Clippers’ events, community initiatives and other events as determined
  • Utilize native social analytics and third-party toolsets to educate business initiatives and advise on better content development
  • Leads relationships with social platforms, third party partners and key influencers.
  • Liaises with third-party vendors and creative agencies to execute large scale, global digital activations to fit into overall digital goals.
  • Leads department evolution in keeping with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Your Background, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or relevant field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in digital, marketing or content role preferred.
  • Deep familiarity and experience with social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.) to engage a target audience
  • Extraordinary written and verbal communication skills with strong storytelling capabilities
  • Experience with social media tools for business, including those offered by the major platforms and third parties.
  • Familiarity with paid social media buying and optimization preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Demonstrated dedication with the ability to lead projects from origin through execution.
  • Willingness to learn and should be able to flourish in a high growth, dynamic environment.
  • Self-starter and entrepreneurial spirit with hands-on approach towards business.
  • Ability to think creatively and outside the box.
