Position Summary: This role will serve as the lead for process improvements for HR Operations and manage the HR Basketball Operations team.
The person in this role will lead all process improvement initiatives within HR Operations and will partner closely with G League Basketball Operations, NBA 2K Operations, Referee Operations and critical internal and external stakeholders to ensure a seamless and efficient onboarding experience of players and referees.
Major Responsibility:
- Process Improvement Lead Organize and lead work related to process improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate existing processes, analyze performance (ex. identify redundancies, duplications, probability for errors), recommend solutions and facilitate implementation and adoption.
- Maintain efficient operations by continuously evaluating processes for improvement in an effort to maintain efficient operations.
- Monitoring and making timely incremental adjustments as needed.
- Identify and execute on process improvement opportunities for People Operations initiatives.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including, SMEs, internal partners and outside vendors in solutioning on and executing process improvements.
- Key stakeholders include, but not limited to, HR Operations SMEs, P&I Centers of Excellence, IT, Legal, Finance and various league operations departments (e.x. Basketball, G League, NBA 2K League and Referee).
- Participate in strategic conversations to ensure Regional Office priorities and requirements are included in process improvement initiatives.
- Dotted line manager to Robotics Process Automation lead administrator.
- HR Basketball Operations Manage HR Basketball Operations team ensuring seamless and accurate onboarding, offboarding and in season transaction experience for players (G League, 2K League), referees (NBA, WNBA and G League) and team contacts.
- This includes maintaining updates to Player Contract Management System (PCMS) integrations and consumer and background check report compliance.
- Manage team supporting onboarding operations transactions for NBA G League and NBA 2K League players.
- Collaborate with HRBPs, G League Basketball Operations, NBA 2K League Operations and Referee Operations to ensure a seamless and efficient onboarding experience.
- Engage and respond to key internal and external stakeholders including Legal, Finance, Employee Relations, Benefits, Referee and Basketball Operations as well as external partners in a timely manner regarding player and referee matters.
- Audit data to ensure timely and accurate data entry and processing of employee transactions.
- Partner with teams to ensure player work authorization.
- Partner with NBA G League Basketball Operations and NBA 2K League Operations to ensure that transactions are reflected in HR systems.
- Provide onsite onboarding support as needed.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Human Resources or Basketball Operations related role.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a client facing role.
- Minimum 5 years' experience managing a team of 2 or more professionals.
- Significant experience in project management Intermediate understanding of immigration and labor law.
- PeopleSoft and SuccessFactors experience highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills including building rapport, establishing relationships, employee coaching/development and influencing and partnering with stakeholder across all levels, departments, and external partners.
- Proven experience developing and executing process improvement initiatives leveraging technology.
- Proven experience as a process-oriented HR Operations Manager or similar role.
- Demonstrates bias towards continuous process improvement and efficiency.
- Problem solving mindset with strong critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills
- General knowledge of NBA G League and NBA 2K League teams, players, personnel as well as an understanding of league structures, rules and processes (both player and referee).
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite including Visio and Excel
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Human Resources or Sports Management discipline
