Description

Summary

The Data Architect will be responsible for implementing and maintaining standardized data structures and practices for the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and other Pegula Sports and Entertainment entities. The Data Architect will automate data processes related to data collection, data warehouse integrations, data aggregation, standardized reporting, and more. The role will be responsible for collaborating with our third-party data warehouse provider to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.

  

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Implement data validation checks for a variety of data sources to ensure consistency with front end reports
  • Utilize SQL to aggregate and clean data from disjoint sources to be used in predictive modeling
  • Utilize SQL to develop standardized data sources for the Strategy & Analytics team
  • Automate data loading process for data sources where an API is unavailable
  • Build and maintain Tableau visualizations that provide insight into data processes
  • Develop automated reporting processes for league reporting (NFL, NHL, NLL, etc.)
  • Assist with marketing automation efforts for email and digital advertising campaigns
  • Work with ticket sales teams to streamline and standardize CRM inputs
  • Identify new data sources and work with third-party warehouse provider to integrate data into our warehouse
  • Extract, transform, and clean data to be used for analysis by data analysts
  • Work closely with data analysts and other departments on all data-related needs
  • Take ownership of organizational data integrity
  • Maintain upmost confidentiality as applicable
  • Perform additional ad-hoc tasks as necessary

 

Minimum Qualifications for the Position:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related field
  • Fluency in SQL development and an understanding of database and data warehousing technologies
  • Academic and/or industry experience in database architecture design and/or back-end software design
  • Experience collaborating with and providing data products to data analysts for analysis
  • Experience with at least one programming language for data analysis (e.g. R, Python, etc.)
  • Experience automating unit-testing, quality assurance, and/or data quality monitoring
  • Experience writing shared code and using version control tools in team work environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to responsibly maintain sensitive and confidential databases
  • Data analysis/visualization experience is considered a plus
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends
