The Director of Project Management will report directly to the SVP of Engineering and Technology. This position combines project management, operational support and driving innovation processes to Surf Ranch, Active / Future Projects and Sustainability initiatives. The Director will help us deliver existing projects and services, coupled with the creation of new products that enhance and innovate the overall surf experience.  Products are defined as:

  • Wave Technology - core components of the Wave System
  • Non-Wave Technology - Ancillary Products focused on enhancing customer experience 
  • Sustainability Initiatives - integrating across all product and customer offerings 

This role will require stakeholder engagement with customers, both internal and external, and outstanding organizational skills to manage multiple simultaneous projects aligned with a technology growth strategy for both existing and new products.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Fully integrate with all Teams / Departments across the business, creating linkages to the Product / technology roadmap and the execution of Projects.
  • Ultimately responsible for managing schedule, cost and execution of projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Lead process improvement and change acceleration. 
  • Stakeholder engagement with customers, both internal and external, and outstanding organizational skills to manage multiple simultaneous projects aligned with a technology growth strategy for both existing and new products.
  • Will work closely with the head of technology, meeting multiple times a week to maintain project alignment with the fast moving business needs. 
  • Identify, vet and manage vendors as needed to accomplish project work.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with collaborators. 
  • Plan, identify, and coordinate resources required over the life of the project or program. 
  • Define plans for risk mitigation and opportunity. 
  • Compare actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned. 
  • Process Management- making sure that each  project follows a tollgate (stage gate) process. The process will identify the project team, requirements and budget and require a rigorous execution plan that includes key performance indicators. 
  • Provide technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans. 
  • Planning, identifying, and coordinating resources for complex engineering projects. 
  • Works across disciplines and closely with internal and external stakeholders. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience preferably in a technical field, Masters Degree Preferred.
  • 7 + years of Project Management experience and proven project management experience.
  • Proven experience with budget management and financial aptitude.
  • Product development experience, able to align projects at different stages.
  • Able to implement structure around project processes 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA/Confluence.  
  • Extensive experience with process improvement and supplier management
  • Engineering background preferred
  • Sustainability experience preferred
  • Able and willing to travel as necessary (60-80%)
