As the Director of Web Experience you will own all aspects of our website across architecture, operations, design, and development to support brand needs throughout various internal departments. This role will be responsible for building out an internal web development team and establishing vision for processes for systems we use. The ideal candidate will have a dynamic range of web development and project management experience. You will be able to see the bigger picture for the future vision of the organization while still being able to get hands on with the execution of tasks to ensure a high quality of work while making sure resources are properly allocated to achieve timely execution of deliverables.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Build and lead an internal web development team across QA, front-end development, and back-end development while working with a project manager to streamline projects.
    • Lead web development scoping, planning, and technical architecture for all projects involving UI and WordPress development.
    • Own website performance to ensure server stability and functionality across all web properties and domains. 
    • Guide architecture decisions with key stakeholders to determine optimal web experience solutions for how systems work together.
    • Manage workflow and allocation of resources of project requests across key stakeholders including consumer, enterprise, soft goods, and international while setting timelines for expectation of deliverables.
    • Ensure web development and creative teams are adhering to best practices for UX and design while establishing guidelines.
    • Define and document best practices for development and deployment of tasks across testing and production environments.
    • Create vision for expanding the current website to meet international requirements to localization of language and environment based module control.
    • Perform code reviews and provide feedback on all internal and external code.
    • Regularly communicate with the digital marketing leadership to discuss direction, strategy, and priority.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • 10+ years of experience in modern web and application development (React, Angular, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and APIs).
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent required. Master’s degree preferred.
    • 6+ years of experience with building, leading and directing multiple agile development teams.
    • Familiarity with development and implementation of systems for international web properties. 
    • Extensive experience architecting and supporting high traffic global websites, including leveraging content delivery networks, load testing, and active monitoring tools.
    • Experience with frameworks and tools to aid optimal site user experience including Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 360, Optimizely, SEO, accessibility and dynamic content delivery.
    • Experience with automated testing strategies, build pipelines, and deployment systems.
    • Solid understanding of software development practices and agile methodology.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and distributed environment while coordinating with multiple stakeholders for setting expectations and timelines..
    • Outstanding attention to detail.
    • Possesses high emotional intelligence, positive attitude and the ability to influence without authority.
    • Obsessive about user experience and accessibility to address modern design while balancing compliance standards.
    • Highly collaborative with strong communication skills and intellectual curiosity.
    • Experience mentoring and managing a team of developers working to deliver an exceptional experience.
    • Experience managing technical vendors and outsourced providers.
