The Role:

Under the guidance of the VP of Human Resources and Talent, the HR Manager will perform a wide variety of tactical HR duties, including policies, practices, and programs to support recruitment, onboarding, compensation and benefits administration, performance management, associate relations, HRIS systems, and safety and compliance. Working predominantly with providing day-to-day support of front-line associates and managers, the HR Manager also serves as the connector between the venues and the Home Office team. The HR Manager will drive actions to align with Puttshack's vision, core values, and business objectives. The HR Manager will support the venue teams by understanding business priorities and goals, guiding associates and leaders on HR issues, and serving as a point of contact on day-to-day HR matters.

The team and business is growing so this role is really suited to someone who can jump in to assist with all aspects of HR.

Location:

This role will be based out of our fantastic central office in Chicago, located in the River North neighborhood with some work from home flexibility.

Reports to: VP of Human Resources and Talent

What you'll do:

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Provide support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Oversees associate disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Support Talent Acquisition, Compensation & Benefits and Learning & Development as required.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure we are attracting and retaining top talent.
  • Become the internal expert on our HRIS Platform.
  • Create and implement policies and procedures across venues and home office to ensure the business is both compliant and supports the ongoing development and wellbeing of associates
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Skills/Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of three years of human resource management experience is preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is highly desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
  • Occasional domestic travel may be required
