The Game Day is a new, fan-led content platform aimed at the US sports & sports betting markets. Set up by a highly successful, award-winning production & social media team, The Game Day is a multi-platform content offering that looks to drive a sports-hungry audience to the very best sites offering stats, discussion and game coverage.

The Role:

Reporting into the Head of Social Media, the Community Platform Manager will be responsible for leading and growing an online community dedicated to the NBA and College Basketball. This will include building and owning a content calendar, producing original content and graphics, monitoring discussion forums, replying to comments, creating and implementing community engagement initiatives, and supporting a wide array of diverse communities for our programming and content. The Social Media Manager will also be expected to manage and run social amplification initiatives as directed by the Head of Social Media.

The candidate will be expected to prepare and deliver high-quality graphic social media assets in a timely manner, according to the company’s social media strategy. The Social Media Manager will also assist in the development and implementation of The Game Day’s social media strategy, including amplifying the Game Day’s social ‘voice’, meeting performance KPIs, and helping refine ‘best practice’ guidelines for the Game Day’s social media channels.

While the role will have a strong focus on the NBA and college basketball, the candidate should feel confident in contributing to all of The Game Day’s sport verticals, including MLB, NFL and others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building and maintaining an online community
  • Monitoring and driving conversation across all platforms
  • Curating content from across sports & pop culture to tell stories that fit The Game Day brand voice
  • Assisting with the development of content planning for social media, including programming and design formats
  • Working with the social media and production teams to develop, update and execute a community engagement calendar
  • Designing assets for the company’s social platforms
  • Writing engaging and emotive content for use on relevant social media channels and forums
  • Promoting new content, statistics and information to the Game Day community
  • Delivering regular community updates to the business, as well as informing of community sentiment and content-focused campaign performance
  • Providing qualitative and quantitative feedback based on consumer insights and close monitoring of community channels
  • Working in a team setting of content creators, social producers and other social managers
  • Some night and weekend work

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
  • Basic design skills
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong understanding of sports betting, fantasy sports & online casino
  • Demonstrable experience as a community manager, preferably within the NBA
  • Proven track record of managing impactful social media campaigns
  • Ability to create, produce and reaction in real-time
  • Very strong verbal, visual and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of and interest in social media analytics, best practices and emerging trends in sports media
  • Ability to develop and execute community engagement programs
  • Editing experience and on-screen / hosting experience would be a bonus
  • Minimum of 2+ years in a similar role
