Job Summary:

On any given day at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology, we’re reimagining ways to create magical viewing experiences for the world’s most beloved stories while also transforming our media business for the future. Whether that’s evolving our streaming and digital products in new and immersive ways, powering worldwide advertising and distribution to enhance flexibility and efficiency, or delivering Disney’s unmatched entertainment and sports content, every day is a moment to make a difference to partners and to hundreds of millions of people around the world.

A few reasons why we think you’d love working here:

  • Building the future of Disney’s media: DE&E Technologists are designing and building the infrastructure that will power our media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come.
  • Reach & Scale: The products and platforms this group builds and operates delight millions of consumers every minute of every day – from Disney+ and Hulu, to ABC News and Entertainment, to ESPN and ESPN+, and much more.
  • Innovation: We develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms and enhance how audiences experience sports, entertainment & news.

The Product Design team is a growing practice of multi-disciplinary creators and storytellers. We are passionate about building high-quality, innovative, and authentic experiences. We work where art meets science, exploring ideas by using the power of design to make the invisible visible. We believe in doing things that matter and encouraging a culture of varied perspectives and collaboration. We celebrate our wins, but never settle.

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our rapidly growing Growth Design team. This is an opportunity to collaborate with the very best in design, product, and technology to craft the end-to-end subscriber lifecycle experience across Disney+, Hulu, and Star+. We measure our success by how many new customers we acquire and how well we retain the customers we have, with a keen focus on elevating the unique value of our Disney Bundle offering.

You will be challenged to address our most strategic Growth design problems at scale for multiple streaming services, focusing on optimizing our core subscription purchase and retention funnels. You have an expert ability to understand how a family of unique brands can form something magical and memorable, while also architecting highly sophisticated commerce user flows that feel effortless.

What you’ll do

  • Follow and advocate a user-centered, data-driven design process to clearly understand the motivations and behaviors of the Disney Streaming user, and design intuitive solutions that help them meet their goals.
  • Partner closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including research, engineering, product, and business to find elegant and practical solutions.
  • Partner with researchers to validate solutions and practice evidence-based design.
  • Lead as a subject matter authority in your domain for the rest of the design team, providing design guidance, documenting, and socializing best practices.
  • Provide thought leadership to develop the right design strategy and use UX methodologies to bring value to the user and the business.
  • Rapidly concept multiple solutions at varied levels of fidelity, from sketches to wireframes to interactive prototypes, instinctively knowing the proper level of fidelity required to communicate your point of view and elicit the right type of feedback for the project stage.
  • Adhere to various design systems and brand guidelines, ensuring a high-level of quality, establishing a consistent look and feel throughout the product, and only diverging when the need is validated.
  • Work well autonomously, self-managing and taking full ownership of your work, from discovery to production, but also able to take direction and work within parameters.
  • Actively participate in feedback loops from design crits to 1:1s
  • Accept change and ambiguity, viewing it as an opportunity not a blocker.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing at consumer-focused tech or media companies.
  • Bachelor's degree required OR equivalent relevant years of experience
  • Expert skills in Figma, Sketch, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • An understanding of acquisition, conversion, and data-informed design
  • Experience designing net new features while optimizing existing features for products at a large, global scale – demonstrating rapid prototyping and an iterative test and learn approach.
  • Strong conceptual and design sense, able to complete tasks across a range of digital platforms including responsive web, native mobile, and living room devices.
  • Proficiency in crafting and facilitating design thinking workshops to galvanize cross-functional teams around a shared product design vision.
  • Proficiency in contributing to a living, multi-platform design system.
  • Proficiency with prototyping and animation (Principle, Framer, Proto.io, After Effects, Lottie)
  • Collaborative, working well within a team environment, while also able to function as an individual contributor with self-direction and accountability.
  • Comfortable speaking with internal stakeholders, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive in communicating and documenting project progress, status, and workload
  • Organized and diligent, carefully reviewing your work at all stages, and adaptable and receptive to design feedback.
  • Up to date with emerging design trends and technologies, eager to learn and share with the design team.
