The Job
 This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications and will be based in our office located in Indianapolis, IN.  You will be responsible for developing, managing and executing event advertising and promotion focusing on the professional race schedule.  The job scope includes overseeing event traditional and digital media plans and execution, in-market promotion plan development and execution, all direct and database marketing activities, and digital program development and execution.  
 
The qualified candidate will possess a degree, preferably in marketing or advertising.  In addition, you should have 5-10 years of experience in sports or entertainment marketing specializing in event promotions and advertising in various national markets, as well as experience selling event tickets.  Required additional experience includes knowledge of current communication, media and marketing techniques, including experience with direct marketing (database, email, etc.) and social media; the ability to move from creative concepts to concrete programs; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and the ability to develop and maintain positive and productive internal and external working relationships. Prior supervisory experience is a must.  This position requires some national travel to our weekend events. 

 Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
 Directs and implements the organization’s advertising and promotional budget. 
  • Manage NHRA’s email and text databases to implement ticket-selling campaigns.
  • Work with outside digital agencies to build campaigns.
  • Demonstrate a track record of successful and trackable return on ad spends.
  • Remain cutting-edge with digital marketing technology.
  • Work closely with NHRA’s Social Media, Content, and Editorial teams to build compelling video and content to sell tickets. 
  • Work closely with NHRA’s Ticketing department as well as racetrack box offices to ensure accurate ticket system builds and set up of ticket discount promotions.
  • Maintain a detailed ticket renewal and on-sale timeline calendar.  
  • Work with sponsors as well as trade and promotional partners to develop and implement activation programs aimed at increasing event attendance and revenue.
  • Develop incentivized ticket renewal opportunities for fans.
  • Creatively brainstorm to strategize, recommend and implement actionable items for future promotions to meet sales goals.
  • Assemble detailed recaps and analysis for management, partners and tracks.
  • Perform research related to promotional execution, sponsor activation, ticket sales trends and emerging digital advertising opportunities.
  • Experiment with non-traditional advertising and alternative ways to reach existing and new demographics.
  • Author creative marketing campaigns, including but not limited to TV & radio spots; digital communications including web banners, ads, email blasts; print ads, billboards, and other miscellaneous marketing collateral.
  • Assist with trafficking of creative materials to media outlets, racetracks and sponsor/promotional partners.
  • Consistently monitor NHRA.com for schedule and ticketing updates.
  • Establish and maintain a strong and proactive working relationship with track personnel. 
  • Monitor the market and be aware of market changes and developments that may affect ticket sales.
  • Other marketing activities and projects as assigned.
  • Prepares effective advertising campaigns based on market research.
  • Collaborates with senior executives to develop growth plans for the organization.
  • Forecasts, drafts, implements, and oversees the department’s operating budget.
