JOB DESCRIPTION

The Charlotte FOX Sports team is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to support FNCC Charlotte’s Post-Production and Creative Services Departments, as well as all Live Studio Shows with a Virtual Reality studio. As our Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance of all graphics, studio production, postproduction, and IT equipment in both on-air and off-air situations. You will focus on computers, applications, networking, and storage. In addition, you will provide user support while functioning as a technical liaison between different departments within FOX.

 

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Installation and maintenance of all graphics, postproduction, studio, and control room systems

  • Support both Graphics & Production Edit Macs OSX and Windows workstations including applications and plugins

  • Keep Graphics, Production, Post-Production and Operations on the air and operational

  • Update Documentation (Inventory, system drawing, workflows, SOP)

  • Front line support for all networking and security interfaces within the facility and work directly with both FNCC & BDN teams

  • Install and maintain broadcast applications (Servers/workstations, Ethernet, fiber network, storage, kvm)

  • Focus on computers, applications, networking, and storage

  • Provide user support while functioning as a technical liaison between different departments within Fox

  • Keep Broadcast IT systems and workflows functioning properly

  • Communicate complex technical issues in written and verbal communications to less technical stakeholders

  • Act as the interface/liaison between FOX Worldwide Network Services, Operations, Engineering, and outside vendors

  • Make complicated technical decisions, and mentor others while resolving these complex technical problems

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 3+ years as systems engineer (a huge plus if in media & video post-production environment)

  • Familiarity with Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 & 2019, Linux, Mac operating systems

  • Ability to create SOPs documentation

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to see a problem or project through with minimal supervision

  • Comfortableness in a position of leadership responsible for making complicated technical decisions, yet able to mentor others while resolving these complex technical problems

  • Strong organizational and analytical problem-solving skills

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven technical project management skills

  • Ability to professionally communicate complex technical issues in written and verbal communications to less technical stakeholders.

  • Customer service skills

  • Capacity to work under pressure by triaging multiple problems

  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed

 

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or other technical disciplines, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of four (4) years’ equivalent experience

  • Stornext file systems experience

  • IBM LTO Tape libraires

  • UNIX and Lynx operating experience

  • Familiar with Next Gen Antivirus, e.g.) CrowdStrike

  • Knowledge of Brocade Fiber Channel Switches

  • Experience with cloud technologies, Amazon AWS, Google GCP

  • Maxon C4D, Maya, V-Ray, and 3D StudioMax

  • AWS Thinkbox Deadline Render Farm Manager
