Job Summary

DESCRIPTION

Amazon is looking for a team-oriented, highly analytical and passionate business leader to join the Sporting Goods team. The Senior Vendor Manager will be responsible for developing and managing a dynamic business for one of our Sports & Outdoors categories. Within this role, the individual will set the category strategy, establish and maintain strong vendor partnerships and manage the category P&L. In addition, this position is expected to provide leadership across categories - driving systems, process, and customer experience improvements that will benefit all customers at amazon.com.

The Successful Senior Vendor Manager Must Be Able To

  • Define a strategy for the business and break it down into actionable goals
  • Understand drivers and opportunities of the category P&L
  • Manage relationships with vendors
  • Institute best practices and processes which can be replicated across all categories
  • Lead change with cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, while meeting tight deadlines

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years experience in Account Management, Project/Program Management, or Buying
  • Experience using data to influence business decisions
  • Experience driving internal cross-team collaboration
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Superior analytical skills and willingness to roll up sleeves to get it done
  • Highly polished communication skills - speaking, writing, presenting and negotiating
  • 4+ years’ experience in related field
  • Proficient with Excel and Word

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA preferred
  • Track record of results, setting strategy, and running a large volume and high profile business
  • Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development
  • High threshold for working and thriving in an ambiguous, fast paced environment – figuring it out and adapting as you go
  • Ability to operate simultaneously and effectively in both tactical and strategic modes
