About the XFL

Launching in February 2023, the XFL is a fan-first, fast-paced global professional football league featuring innovative rules and an enhanced 360-view game experience.  Led by owners Dany Garcia, Dwayne Johnson, and Gerry Cardinale's RedBird Capital Partners, the XFL will bring entertainment to world-class football with the goal of advancing the game and expanding player opportunities.

 

About the Position

The XFL is seeking an Art Director with a love of football, design and typography to join their creative team. As an Art Director with the XFL you'll take charge concepting and executing brand materials and campaigns for use across all touch points of the brand, on and off the field supporting business and football operations across the League and it’s eight (8) teams. You will collaborate with and lead other members of the creative team to create both printed and digital assets for use throughout the season and offseason. Your portfolio should show capability within multiple design disciplines as well as varying visual directions.

 

The Art Director plays an essential role in designing and assuring excellence in the execution of graphic design concepts for print and digital in collaboration with the XFL’s Creative Director.  The Art Director is a creative problem-solver who develops creative concepts and produce final artwork or copy.  This includes understanding and implementing brand initiatives and campaigns, and ensuring all designs meet XFL and team brand guidelines as well as clients’ specific needs.

 

What you will do

  • Concept and execute designs and guidelines for use across the brand and it's platforms
  • Help to develop and work within the brand language, while simultaneously pushing the guidelines when and where it's appropriate
  • Work closely with the Creative Director and other designers to develop and implement new ideas
  • Create reusable solutions for repeated design needs
  • Identify gaps in current assets, and suggest alternatives
  • Manage your projects through to delivery
  • Engage with the full creative team to share research and new ideas
  • Keep up to date on current design trends across social, digital and print.

What you will bring:

  • 5-7 years of previous experience as a Graphic Designer, producing high-quality design materials from initial concept through production to delivery of finalized materials, or a body of work that reflects an equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is required
  • Multi-disciplinary, comfortable working within various print and digital formats
  • Strong foundation design including typography
  • Capable of executing visual direction from the Creative Director, as well as giving direction to other designers, motion designers, editors, and videographers
  • Detail oriented, and capable of executing quickly under tight deadlines
  • Comfortable multi-tasking and pushing multiple projects forward simultaneously
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to account for games on nights and weekends
  • Experience leading and managing a team is a plus
  • Motion Design experience with After Effects, Cinema4D, etc. is a plus
  • Knowledge of football and the professional football leagues/XFL is a plus

Additional Details 

  • Please note, the location of this role is flexible.
  • Primarily works in a remote office and/or an office environment but may include attending select games and events in XFL team markets.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
