destination for millions of fans and athletes over 25 underserved sports including (Wrestling,

Track & Field, Cheer, Hockey, Grappling, etc). Our products deliver all the results, standings, statistics and editorial content that our die-hard fans and athletic participants crave in the sports they love. Additionally, we provide live streamed events and original sports content ranging from breaking news and expert commentary to feature films, documentaries and multi-episodic series.

As a Principal Engineer for Data Platform at FloSports, you will be at the forefront of cutting-edge data-driven innovations, and, more broadly, you will be a leader who raises the bar for our Engineering practice.

Your primary responsibility is to design, architect, and lead development of robust, scalable, and efficient data platforms. Your work will materially impact the quality and engagement in our sports media products by resolving the primary technical challenges endemic to our domain, ultimately making FloSports the definitive, trusted place that fans seek out for live results, rankings, up-to-the-minute schedule changes, and athlete data.

ABOUT THE TEAM:

In the dynamic world of sports, where every second, every point, and every move counts, data is the heartbeat that propels us forward. As we endeavor to be the Essential Destination for passionate sports enthusiasts, we are focused on the pivotal role that data plays in bringing live events, news, stats, rankings, and profiles to life.

The Data Platform team is responsible for end-to-end architecture from 1st and 3rd party sources from thousands of sporting events to the data in FloSports’ information core that feed our applications. This team builds systems and tools that address data quality, observability, lineage and other approaches to ensure the reliability of our data products. We also lay the foundation for core systems, establishing patterns and practices that can be emulated throughout the Engineering organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Scaling System Design : Spearhead the design and implementation of scalable data systems, ensuring that our platform can handle future data demands seamlessly.
• Data Service Architecture : Craft a solid foundation for our data services, ensuring flexibility, scalability, and efficiency in data retrieval and storage.
• Data Engineering Establishment of Patterns : Drive the standardization of best practices in data engineering within the organization, promoting consistency and reliability.
• Pipeline Architecture Design : Oversee the design and structure of event-driven and batch data pipelines, ensuring streamlined data flow and optimized processing.
• Data Product System Design : Lead the ideation and creation of innovative data products, ensuring they leverage the full potential of our data assets.
  
  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
• 6+ years of experience in building data platform that power data products at scale
• Expertise with CI/CD and in building portable, easy-to-deploy, scalable systems
• Working knowledge of data architectural patterns for event-driven and batch use cases involving distributed systems, blob, noSQL and SQL technologies
• Observability / Data Quality: facility with technologies, tools and practices that ensure high-quality production data
• Expert-level proficiency building data processing systems with cloud-native and serverless technologies
• Strong technical leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to create leverage across the Engineering practice
• Excellent problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to foresee potential challenges in data operations

• Direct experience building with AWS serverless (e.g. SST), noSQL (e.g. Dynamo), stream processing (Kinesis
• SQL: Strong foundational understanding of the relative benefits & use cases for relational, columnar, document and key-value stores
