The Email Marketing Automation Manager supports the omnichannel marketing campaigns that drive growth for the Chicago Cubs. Their knowledge of email, website, SMS and push marketing will ensure the Cubs reach the right customers with the right message at the right time. This role supports the Senior Manager, Integrated Marketing in executing all database marketing tactics, providing post-campaign analytics and recommending how to improve our efforts. This role works very closely with the Cubs marketing, communications, ticketing, and business analytics departments as well as Major League Baseball (MLB). It requires someone with strong critical thinking skills, a collaborative work style and the ability to manage several projects concurrently. Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with marketing automation and Email Service Provider (ESP) platforms (i.e., Marketing Cloud, Pardot, Eloqua, Iterable, etc) is required – with demonstrable skills in email journey creation, personalized & dynamic content versioning, distribution list creation & customization and email template creation, proofing & execution.
Manage the database marketing campaign calendar; ensuring that all assets are developed, approved, Q.A.’ed and deployed in a timely manner
Develop and execute campaigns that help achieve the business goals for key products, promotions and institutional priorities throughout the year
Use automation platforms (ex: Pardot) to build personalized customer journeys that improve sales conversions and maximize their lifetime value
Consistently use A/B testing to optimize key elements of campaigns, such as audience segments, subject lines, message content & visuals, send times, etc.
Develop a deep understanding of the Cubs customer segmentation, and use those insights to inform campaign execution
Summarize campaign performance on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
Build positive relationships with counterparts across the Cubs organization and MLB
Assist the Senior Manager, Integrated Marketing with annual strategic planning, coordinating database marketing objectives across multiple business functions
Support the Cubs overarching CRM vision via database expansion, mining and lead generation
Stay abreast of industry best practices and innovations that can help grow the business
Degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited university
2+ years of hands-on experience with marketing automation and Email Service Provider (ESP) platforms (i.e. Marketing Cloud, Pardot, Eloqua, Iterable, etc.)
Track record of executing highly targeted email and SMS marketing campaigns in a dynamic, fast paced environment
Basic knowledge of HTML and the ability to code email templates
Proficiency with the Salesforce CRM system
Strong understanding of usability within mobile, email, social, digital and web channels
A mindset of continuous learning, improvement and innovation
Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and active listening
Ability to prioritize workload, take ownership and project manage multiple overlapping initiatives
Basic knowledge of the various data privacy laws that impact email marketing
Ability to work a varied, non-standard schedule that includes evenings, weekends and holidays
2+ years of digital marketing experience (Google Adwords, SEO, SEM, Facebook Ads, Google Analytics)
Working knowledge of customer segmentation and analytical tools such as Excel, SAS, SQL
Experience creating new customer acquisition and lead generation campaigns
Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and ability to perform common graphics creation and modification
