Job Description

Overview /Objective

The Event Technology Product Manager is responsible for the technical analysis and execution of projects and tasks related to application and service solutions within the scope of the IT Event Technology Team. The Event Technology Product Manager is expected to work collaboratively within the Event Technology Team and with internal stakeholders and external vendors to align with the team’s application portfolio strategy, technology architecture best practices, business goals and objectives.

This individual is at the center of the work for the technical build and implementation of the NFL’s fan, partner, and business facing technology and applications for special Events (Super Bowl, Draft, Combine, International Series Games and others). This role incorporates two aspects. First, significant research and analysis to evaluate and identify the best technology solutions and services that meet the strategic outcomes set by the Events Technology team and its business stakeholders. Second, the ability to organize, execute, and manage the implementation plans through the product lifecycle. Our team relies on the input and recommendations of this individual to achieve its goals. The ability to analyze, document and communicate the opportunities, maturity, risks, interconnections, and requirements to execute a product objective is a key aspect of the role. The ideal candidate has a passion for building highly engaging and customer focused fan experiences with technology, bringing new efficiency and solutions to how the NFL operates events and solving difficult integration problems with many components and stakeholders.

The NFL is a fast-paced environment and this individual must have strong organizational skills as well as a firm understanding of how to adopt and apply the NFL’s software development and product life cycle methodology to their work. Experience creating test plans and release schedules that align with the NFL event schedule and identified milestone dates is essential. A successful candidate has the ability to liaise with technical and business team members and lead projects and tasks with internal and external development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Event Technology portfolio leadership team on the intake process and overall strategic goals to understand business demand and project objectives.
  • Work with the Events Technology relationship managers and the NFL business teams and stakeholders to create technical product implementation plans
  • Translate business stakeholder needs into product requirements, definitions, road maps, and objectives.
  • Align and manage objectives with internal/external developers, engineers, architects, quality assurance, and operations.
  • Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations.
  • Be the "voice of the customer" during specification and development stages.
  • Define success criteria for testing and product acceptance.
  • Engage on user experience, feature ideas, and proof of concepts to bring potential solutions to life while guiding prioritization of critical components.
  • Verify development life cycle meets the needs of the stakeholders and aligns with the application objectives and timelines.
  • Create and own the product backlog and product requirements document.
  • Firm understanding for testing native mobile applications and responsive design applications. (i.e., Test Flight, Android Studio)
  • Evaluate and sign off on technology considerations, technology trade-offs, and the product technology roadmap.
  • Escalate risks within business analysis and development to leadership and executives.
  • Understand, research, and follow technical trends in the industry to assess emerging products that would add value to the Event Technology portfolio.
  • Perform operational and product support on the ground at NFL Events when required.
  • Participant and valued input for vendor and technology selection.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years related experience
  • Passion for technology; actively researches, analyzes, and recommends new technology.
  • Strength working on multiple products and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Effectively identifies risks, gaps, and problems, communicates them openly and brainstorms with the team to solution.
  • Ability to create reports and exec summaries for product and operational status using data.
  • Must possess critical thinking skills and ability to apply those skills to technical challenges and identify practical and efficient solutions.
  • Must have excellent presence with clients and executives.
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively on companywide programs and initiatives with technical peers across subject matters and levels of expertise.
  • Must demonstrate expert troubleshooting and technology incident and problem remediation skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Medium to high demand for travel domestic and international
  • Weekends and hours outside of standard business hours during NFL Event windows and for product updates and releases

Salary / Pay Range

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job in the location(s) specified. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week.
  • FLSA exempt.
