Overview

The NFL’s Marketing Strategy, Insights and Planning team is seeking a Senior Director of Fan Strategy & Partnership Development.  This role will be responsible for NFL’s fan development planning efforts and orchestrating alignment within the Marketing organization and across the League.  This individual will also oversee the development of partnerships designed to drive fan acquisition and retention.  This position will partner with leaders across the NFL and especially within the NFL Marketing organization in delivering against its strategic priorities including retaining and engaging the NFL’s core fan base, acquiring and developing growth audiences, delivering value across the NFL ecosystem (League businesses, the 32 Clubs, partners, players, etc.), and building and maintaining a world-class marketing team and capabilities. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a long-term fan model, leveraging insights and data sets to inform underlying assumptions and forecasting.  Optimize based on evolving fan preferences, engagement levels, media behaviors, business priorities, macro landscape, and other factors.
  • Continually evaluate, optimize and communicate the NFL’s fan development strategy (e.g., priority target demos and segments, audience-centric objectives).  Leverage various segmentation frameworks to create a unified articulation of audience priorities to drive cross-organizational alignment.
  • Champion the NFL Marketing team’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion plan and incorporate diverse community engagement priorities into the League’s fan development strategy.
  • Partner with key leaders across the League (e.g., Consumer Insights, other Marketing functions, Corporate Strategy, Finance, Data & Analytics, Media) to understand the relationship between fandom and other KPIs.  Quantify the impact of fan development on League businesses to inform investment decisions and tradeoffs.
  • Lead fan-centric partnership development efforts.  Optimize current and form new third-party relationships, especially content distribution arrangements, that are designed to primarily build long-term fandom while balancing other considerations and parameters. Structure and negotiate deals in partnership with various League business development teams.
  • Identify opportunities to orient League and Club business activities toward priority fan audiences.
  • Build and foster a positive and engaging culture and work environment that prioritizes inclusivity and individual career development. 
  • Develop and mentor team members across the Strategy and Insights team.  Leverage the diverse skill sets and experience levels across the team to contribute to the key deliverables for which this role is primarily responsible. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred
  • 12 years of experience in marketing strategy, consulting, or other relevant field, focused on consumer-facing brands/properties
  • Experience in and deep familiarity with the sports, entertainment and/or media industries
  • Experience building and analyzing quantitative models that inform marketing and overall business planning
  • Experience structuring content licensing deals and familiarity with media landscape and rights complexities
  • Experience developing and implementing long-term business plans and strategies
  • Familiarity with various measurement tools including consumer insights and behavioral data
  • Spanish speaking is a plus

Travel

  • Occasional travel may be required (e.g., NFL Club visits, executive meetings, partner meetings)

Terms /Expected Hours of Work

  • NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week with occasional weekend requirements.
