POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Marketing Manager, this position oversees the planning and implementation of all NTT INDYCAR SERIES fan experiences, including diversity, grassroots and charity programs with a goal of growing and diversifying the INDYCAR fan base.  This position will act as a liaison with promoter partners to develop and support marketing efforts for event promotion. In addition, the role will oversee the hospitality program and activations at race events and lead key events throughout the year, whether for internal or external partners.

The role will work closely with INDYCAR Marketing leadership to deliver against key marketing initiatives and objectives; partnering with other members of the Marketing, Communication, Partnerships and other internal teams to build integrated plans that drive the INDYCAR brand, our drivers, series partners and promoter partners. This role will oversee two (2) full-time direct reports and seasonal/part-time staff if applicable.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:  

  • Lead coordination and oversight of at-track and fan facing activations, in partnership with the wider internal marketing and operations team and promoter partners. Includes but not limited to autograph sessions, at-track display coordination.
  • Lead and provide oversight for Hospitality program for the series. Inclusive of guest communication, ticket inventory management, food and beverage, decoration and branding on-site and budget oversight.
  • Act as a liaison with promoter partners in development and support of marketing plans and event promotion.
  • Develop and implement a Community Outreach plan with a focus on key race markets to attract and engage new fans.
  • Manage Official Charity Partner relationships, inclusive of overall partnership deliverables and activations, with a focus on attracting and engaging with new fans.
  • Lead and manage special events throughout the year, working closely with other internal departments on execution. Events can include fan-facing events in race markets, season-kick off and/or championship events.
  • Manage overall Show Car program elements including planning, scheduling, and all logistics and information necessary for planned appearances
  • Manage the commercial elements related to the two-seater and event car programs, inclusive of customer experience, impactful participants, integration with media and promoter usage of programs. Work with internal departments (Sales, Partnerships, Promoter Relations) to book at high impact events.
  • Manage the coordination, logistics and usage of the Astor Challenge Cup trophy.
  • Work with the integrated Marketing and Communications team to develop and execute an influencer strategy that builds a connection between target fan segments and relatable influencers to increase fan base
  • Ability to lead and manage direct reports.
  • Evaluate and manage necessary tools needed to execute marketing plans; refine plans in real time to maximize resource investment and plan objectives
  • Develop and manage budgets needed to facilitate assigned responsibilities; partner with other Marketing-Communications team members to maximize budget spend across integrated plan
  • Motivated to advance skill set and utilize evolving programs, tools and other sources to improve abilities
  • This position is required to travel to all NTT INDYCAR SERIES races and other off-site shoots, appearances and events as defined by Marketing and Communications and other departments

QUALIFICATIONS:

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This individual manages seasonal/temporary help and direct the efforts of internal creative resources and external agencies
  • Ability to manage, coach and develop talent internally and externally

Education

  • Associate degree in Marketing or equivalent experience

Skills/Experience

  • 6+ years minimum experience in marketing and/or events, preferably in sports, advertising or entertainment business
  • Experience in building and leveraging relationships to deliver successful development and implementation of marketing activities
  • Effective leader with strong people and communication skills
  • Proficient in operational and logistical tasks
  • Innovative thinker and self-starter with perseverance to lead teams to success
  • High integrity and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, ability to manage change and balance competing/evolving priorities. Ability to work in high-paced environment and on short deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Knowledge of motorsports, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, IndyCar Series, and other related activities preferred

Travel/Work Hours

  • This job requires travel to INDYCAR SERIES events. When not traveling, there will be weekend and holiday work when race events are held.
  • Ability to travel for photo shoots, special events or other assignments given across the calendar year
  • Traditional and non-traditional work hours expected
