The Vice President of Operations is responsible for the daily physical operations of the Intuit Dome by providing leadership and oversight to team members coordinating all repairs and maintenance, event conversion, engineering, housekeeping, and event production. This includes daily cleaning, preventative maintenance, repair and service, and building appearance. While simultaneously handling large-scale capital projects and capital expenditures.

This role will also be responsible for the daily physical maintenance of the Training Facility at the Intuit Dome that supports the LA Clippers. Leading the facility operations staff, third-party vendors, contractors, and overall operational and capital budget administration to provide and maintain the finest facility of its kind in professional sports.

The position shall also provide expertise, guidance, and support to other Intuit Dome and LA Clippers’ departments, including the initial development and construction teams. Planning and designing the organization for the initial Intuit Dome development, construction, and back-of-house management team by establishing responsibilities and administering standard operations policies and procedures.

This position collaborates with many external entities daily, including city regulatory agencies, code officials, fire marshals, utility providers, and Intuit Dome-owned retail and commercial tenants. The Vice President of Operations is responsible for coordinating activities involving these entities that may affect the ongoing operations of the Intuit Dome or require third-party approvals to accomplish specific Intuit Dome initiatives.

This is a full-time role based out of our temporary Inglewood offices and is eligible for our competitive benefit offerings, including health insurance, Wellbeing Allowance, and 401(k) with company contribution.

What You Will Do

Building Operations

  • Manage direct oversight of all Intuit Dome Electrical, Solar, and Plumbing utility services and corresponding arena systems. The position will be responsible for all Intuit Dome HVAC, Fire Alarm, Lighting, and Building Management System requirements. In addition to overseeing utility-related systems, the position will oversee the infrastructure management of all facility presentation systems and develop and execute energy-efficient strategies.
  • Oversee the infrastructure management of all facilities presentation systems. This includes all indoor and outdoor large-screen displays, all scoring and timing systems, house audio systems, lighting control, and IPTV systems.
  • Responsible for coordinating “back of house” event related operations including event planning, set up, installation of all event materials, day of event execution and the conversion of events for the Intuit Dome.

Staffing

  • Develop job responsibilities, hire new staff, and direct staff to provide the highest quality service to all internal and external clients. Schedule and direct the union and non-union labor associated with the daily operations. Work with internal departments and outside agencies to maintain work rules, jurisdictions, codes, and policies. Lead the development and day-to-day management of complex labor policies and procedures, dispute resolution, arbitrations and assisting the Intuit Dome COO and Legal Department in labor negotiations.
  • Implement a new Time and Attendance scheduling and tracking system. This includes applying administrative policies and procedures, implementing the new process within the union and non-union workforces, and monitoring the tracking and reporting of daily labor activities. Successful management of this process will be measured in maximized operating efficiencies and limiting overtime expenses.

Planning

  • Develop and maintain ongoing operational plans to include annual budgets, operating proformas, conversion timelines, operational policies and procedures, hiring & training, and employee development timelines for all staff.
  • Coordinate all capital planning, development needs, and project review for the Intuit Dome. Complete capital projects while supervising all outside contractors to maintain building integrity and optimize flexibility. Assist with operating and capital projects for the LA Clippers and monitor the progress and costs associated with the same projects.
  • Implement a new Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS.). This includes applying administrative policies and procedures, implementing the new system, training users and eventually tracking and reporting of all Intuit Dome facility maintenance.

Other Duties

  • Evaluate the quality of the guest experience through observation and by responding to feedback.
  • Work closely with Corporate Sales and Marketing to identify and activate sponsorship opportunities with arena amenities, services, and other requirements
  • Represent the organization in all applicable industry/trade organizations, and serve as the primary point of contact for all NBA-related facility/security issues

Your Background, Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the field of facility management, preferably in a multi-purpose arena or similar environment.
  • A minimum of five (5) years progressive supervisory management experience in Facilities Management with direct responsibility supervising and directing staffs across a wide-range of operating functions in a changing environment.
  • Extensive understanding of all facets of facility management, including event sales & marketing, event operations, building engineering, guest services and food & beverage operations is required.
  • Experience working with Security, Event Services, Production, Legal and Finance Departments is required.
  • Prior experience opening a new NBA and/or NHL-specific venue.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact effectively and professionally, diplomatically and maturely with internal and external clients and peers at all levels within an organization and throughout the community, both oral and written.
  • Highly organized with excellent project coordination, project management skills, and attention to detail to meet tight deadlines and work effectively in a high-pressure environment
  • Knowledge of and a passion for professional basketball and live entertainment
  • Highly responsive to emergencies in a fast paced, time sensitive environment with demonstrated confidence, decision-making, and multi-tasking abilities
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead, give clear, concise direction and provide constructive feedback within a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
  • The scope of this position encompasses a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation with the transition of numerous daily events, multiple unions, work rules and jurisdictions. Due to the nature of this industry, the candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule including weeknights, weekends, and holidays

Compensation

  • Compensation range for this role is $200,000 - $250,000
