What We Need

The Director, FP&A Product Development Planning & Strategy is a leadership position within 2K Finance organization. The Director partners with the company business leaders to steer towards successful product development financial plans. This is a critical part of product development life cycle management with customer/stakeholder-obsessed strategy. You will work to establish scalable operations aligned with strategic priorities including clear portfolio and program governance, ownership and decision making, business insights and analytics, product finance operations, automation and enabling systems, and developing our talent.

The Director, FP&A Product Development owns the product portfolio financial optimization plan. Wepartner with the SVP and VP’s of Product Development, Finance Executives, Franchise leadership teams and all Publishing executives to define, recommend and bring forth financially successful production plans.

You will be a highly experienced strategic financial professional, critical thinker rooted in analytics, and have a consistent track record of bringing ideas to life. You must be comfortable influencing and collaborating with various team members at all levels and across functions. You will report into the VP of Finance.

This is a hybrid, onsite role based in our Novato, CA office.

2K Finance Team Charter:

  • Proactively identifying financial opportunities and risks and providing risk mitigation strategies to achieve budget targets

  • Support a comprehensive look at revenue growth and product optimization along with scenario planning to build options and strategies that focus on organization’s growth

  • Drive analyses, financial strategy, risk management recommendations and business cases in partnership with cross-functional leadership teams such as Production, Growth, Marketing, Data Analytics and Technology

  • Be a trusted Strategic partner to each functional lead for Commercial - Growth, Product, Marketing, Analytics, Operations, as needed

  • Build and implement governance, clear roles & responsibilities and decision making, and cross-product portfolio management and seek alignment on key partners

  • Define, structure, drive and coordinate the Company Business strategy across product portfolio

  • Work with cross-functional team leads to provide support and ensure execution of business strategy by connecting the dots

  • Establish and measure critical metrics, market and competitive insights, new growth opportunities, assessment of current strategies, identifying and evaluating strategic options

What You’ll Do

  • Build and operationalize strong financial models of products/titles P&L that are currently in production or development, using business assumptions, inputs and historical financial data, cash flow impact analysis and project return on investment

  • Build clear, accurate and reliable predictive and iterative title P&L forecast models

  • Own the annual/quarterly/monthly budgeting and forecasting process of respective assigned business areas, including partnering with functional FP&A teams to thoughtfully allocate resources, inform key business decisions, and complete operational plans

  • Articulate strategic value of initiatives and incorporate into portfolio prioritization framework including titles/release windowing financial analysis

  • Construct business cases/ justifications for strategic new projects or products, support title greenlighting projects, structure the collection of input from key business leaders and partners, define the key assumptions/tradeoffs behind each initiative, in partnership with the relevant groups like Product Development, Producers, Growth – Commercial team, Operations, Data Analytics and others

  • Gather and provide data and lead analyses to assess business strengths and weaknesses, identify/evaluate opportunities and achieve short and long term strategic goals

  • Review analysis results, develop insightful suggestions for product investment, source, cost reduction and lead strategic business decisions

  • Review operations for cost-savings opportunities and work cross-functionally to incorporate the identified initiatives

  • Writeoach the team to write presentations with compelling and cohesive storylines that focus on the big picture but are grounded in data and business insights: business priorities, product portfolio status to Business & Corporate leaders and key market trend

  • Continuously develop tools/systems and automate processes; run the implementation of a budgeting and forecasting solution to streamline the forecasting and budgeting processes and provide enhanced reporting functionality

  • Champion a collaborative and positive culture of customer-centricity, accountability, integrity, partnership and open communication across organization

What Will Make You A Great Fit

  • 10+ years of experience working in high level management consulting or internal strategy/ BD/ consulting role or equivalent quantitative roles with a focus on strategy, financial planning and business analysis

  • MBA/CPA or similar degree required

  • Knowledge/ prior experience in the media/ advertising/ interactive, technology space

  • Change agent that challenge the status quo and bring up new ideas

  • Actively seek diverse views and cultivate an inclusive team environment

  • Strong experience writing executive presentations, and related employee strategy rollout comms

  • Highly analytical; experience building business cases with lacking market data, and to identify, articulate, and evaluate strategic tradeoffs

  • Effective and confident in the engagement with senior leadership from a variety of functions up to Executive/C-suites level.

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities at once and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong facilitation skills

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $150,000 and $220,000 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
