Overview /Objective

The Manager, Communications will support the work of the Director, Communications to advance communications and strategy in support of NFL Major Events, Music & Entertainment, Marketing and Club Business Development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute communication strategies and media operations for NFL major events including Super Bowl, Pro Bowl Games, Draft, Kickoff and Combine, with a focus on local market ancillary events.
  • Spearhead publicity efforts for music and entertainment initiatives.
  • Liaison between league and event host city marketing-communications groups to provide messaging guidance, support and necessary approvals.
  • Manage stakeholders and implement cross-organizational marketing-communications strategies ensuring execution amongst multiple internal and external parties.
  • Oversee planning and execution of on-site media operations at major events including but not limited to red carpet management, credentialing, press conference management, organization of media previews and live shots.
  • Support marketing initiatives, including brand campaigns and executive thought leadership opportunities/speaking engagements.
  • Work closely with club business development group to provide guidance to clubs and ensure individual business goals are met.
  • Serve as a contact with media to help drive placements in high-profile national and local outlets throughout the year.
  • Craft communications materials including press releases, media guides, pitches and talking points for executives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, media relations OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A team player with the ability to effectively support intra- and cross-departmental activities in public relations.
  • Excellent knowledge of current events and trends in public relations, the NFL, sports media, marketing and business.
  • Established relationships with key national sports, music, entertainment and general news media.
  • A self-starter with strong written and verbal communications skills, excellent organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and ability to design and develop processes from scratch.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint.

Travel

  • This position will require extensive travel during the pre-season, regular season, and post-season, including on weekends.
  • Travel will include week-long trips to major events during the season.

Salary / Pay Range

Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act).
  • NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week. Overtime and weekend hours will likely be required.
