The LA Clippers are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as our Director of Sustainability to lead Intuit Dome’s sustainability mission. The Director of Sustainability will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainability strategies and initiatives that align with the organization’s vision of being a global leader in environmental responsibility. They will ensure compliance with environmental regulations and reporting requirements and find opportunities for innovation in sustainable practices. This role provides an elevated level of property operations knowledge and ground breaking sustainability practices.

Ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong dedication to sustainability, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to drive and implement innovative approaches for positive long-term environmental impact.

This is a full-time role based in Inglewood and is eligible for our competitive benefit offerings including health insurance, Wellbeing Allowance and 401(k) with company contribution.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy and roadmap for the arena, aligning with global sustainability goals, industry best practices and local regulations.
  • Build a comprehensive tracking system to monitor, measure and report various sustainability initiatives including but not limited to energy consumption, waste reduction, water usage, carbon footprint and the annual greenhouse gas emissions audit.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to promote sustainable practices across all arena operations, including waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, basketball operations, arena operations, public relations, sales, marketing, finance and procurement teams to integrate sustainability into all aspects Intuit Dome’s policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in NBA’s Arena Sustainability Task force.
  • Conduct regular sustainability audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and set measurable targets to track progress and outcomes.
  • Coordinate on-site sustainability/recycling/composting program with internal and external partners.
  • Administer service contracts to support property needs and sustainability efforts.
  • Develop relationships with vendors and subcontractors who support facility operations.
  • Identify and leverage external partnerships, industry networks and government initiatives to enhance the arena’s sustainability efforts and foster innovation.
  • Initiate and manage sustainability focused projects such as LEED Zero certifications, green building certifications and implementation of sustainable transportation options.
  • Create and deliver educational and awareness programs to engage employees, visitors and the community promoting sustainability as a core value and encouraging behavioral changes that positively impact the environment.
  • Lead efforts for ongoing venue certifications and re-certifications.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies and sustainability regulations and provide strategic recommendations to improve Intuit Dome's sustainability performance.
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of sustainability training programs for employees.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to effectively communicate the arena’s sustainability achievements to stakeholders, media and the public.
  • Represent the organization at industry events and conferences.

Background, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, or related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate social responsibility or sustainability reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable practices and technologies such as renewable energy, waste management, water conservation, carbon reduction, and green building design.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks, standards and certifications (i.e. LEED, ISO 14000, BREEAM, WELL).
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in conducting sustainability assessments, developing action plans and tracking progress against targets.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report, with the ability to use metrics to drive decision-making and demonstrate impact.
  • Strong presentation skills

 

About Intuit Dome:

Intuit Dome is an iconic new arena designed for optimal and intimate engagement of community and fans. It will raise the bar for sustainability by design with a focus on the fan experience. The arena will operate 100% carbon-free from day one, be naturally ventilated, fully electric through solar power and batteries with enough on-site energy storage to power a basketball game or concert and have no net new greenhouse gas emissions from on-site operations.

Compensation

  • $150,000 - $175,000 annual compensation. Compensation package offered will be based on multiple individualized factors, including a candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
