The Opportunity

The Memphis Grizzlies are seeking an Event Marketing Coordinator dedicated to generating marketing ideas and leading the administration/direction of marketing, promotion, and public relations activities associated with events (concerts, family shows, etc.) taking place in FedExForum. The ideal Event Marketing Coordinator is a self-starter that is detail-oriented, enthusiastic, creative, innovative, and results-oriented.

 

In this role, the Coordinator will work closely with the Marketing and Communications/Public Relations teams to lead grassroots/viral campaigns and will also assist with additional marketing and PR needs as directed.

In This Role You Will

FedExForum Event Promotion:

  • Ideate, develop, and implement integrated promotional/event marketing plans including advertising, promotion, and grassroots efforts;
  • Lead the development, production, and distribution of promotional and collateral materials to support sales and marketing programs;  
  • Assist with the development of FedExForum promotional/event marketing strategies;
  • Help ideate marketing campaigns, including social media, FedExForum website, emails and newsletters, venue marquees, and digital displays;
  • Help devise and implement promotional marketing plans for FedExForum events, subscriptions, group sales, public relations, media placement, digital campaigns, direct mail, traditional and non-traditional;
  • Coordinate promotions and special events with event promoters, publicists, and facility personnel;
  • Provide post promotional event reports, analyses, and regular status reports on marketing campaigns;
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, and Event Services in the planning and execution of events and event sponsorships;
  • Assist with the back-of-house artist’s experience, projects, and gifts, as well as fan-facing event day experiences;
  • Other promotional marketing duties as assigned.

FedExForum Public Relations (PR): 

  • Implement PR campaigns for events as needed, including pitching and scheduling TV, radio, and print interviews and appearances, and creating and executing on and off-site PR events;
  • Collaborate with the Communications and PR teams to coordinate press related duties during events, including TV station coverage, photographers, and reviewers;
  • Support with ensuring proper media coverage and promotion opportunities for all events and tenants at FedExForum (concerts, family shows, etc.) to maximize all ticket sales opportunities in a proactive, customer-oriented approach, both inside and outside of the downtown Memphis area;
  • Serve as primary or secondary media contact for local and national media for FedExForum events, depending on the event;
  • Field and respond to media inquiries for off-the-court business initiatives and FedExForum events, working in tandem with the VP, Communications to filter requests, and coordinate interviews;
  • Connect and work closely with local media, bloggers (I Love Memphis, Choose 901 and Memphis Brand, Etc.) to collaborate and ideate FedExForum promotional campaigns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations or Communications.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in venue/event Marketing or Public Relations. 
  • Ability to network with external stakeholders and form positive relationships with community partners, customers, event promoters, and event publicists.
  • Ability to deliver a high quantity of quality results under extreme time and budget pressure.
  • Effective oral/written communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Proficiency in MicroSoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to listen to input from internal and external stakeholders by taking comments, suggestions, and critiques in an open-minded manner.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Able to work on-site in Memphis, Tennessee during regular office hours, including availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed for FedExForum events.

Nice to Have:

  • Previous experience and proficiency using SharePoint.
  • Live Entertainment industry knowledge/background.
  • Knowledge of concert and entertainment industries.
