POSITION PROFILE: Graphic Designer
DEPARTMENT:         Marketing 
REPORTS TO:         Creative Director
STATUS:                         Full-Time, Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: As a Graphic Designer, your focus will be to design, establish and implement creative standards across internal and external graphic needs for the Kansas City Chiefs. You will work within a creative team as a brand collaborator supporting marketing, digital-social, production, partnerships, events and communications. An ideal candidate will be an outstanding designer who understands the brand, iterates their design concepts and works to foster the creative culture of the Chiefs. Their work will directly impact the essence of the brand to steward it forward across the world.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Production of creative assets for campaigns, events, branding, website, mobile app, ads, social graphics, packaging and merchandise in both digital and print formats.
  • Learn and develop a deep understanding of the Chiefs brand essence, voice and style to maintain consistency throughout all applications.
  • Work directly with the digital-social, marketing and production teams for the creation and planning of campaigns, concepts and styles. 
  • Communicate with internal and external print vendors for developing print-ready files, pricin, and approvals for each project. 
  • Assist in managing the day-to-day output as well as the seasonal design staff as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Creativity. Needs to be able to solve visual problems with innovative solutions.
  • Must be a strong collaborator and communicator. Needs to have the ability to work as a team player to communicate concepts, brainstorm, self-start and pitch big ideas. Must be able to take direction well.
  • We’re looking for people who are creatively ambidextrous and bring multiple skill sets to the table. Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are your bread and butter, but you push yourself beyond the traditional. Working with Procreate, motion graphics or 3D are not required but are great skills to have as well. 
  • Establish and apply dynamic graphic styles that stay ahead of trends while maintaining Chiefs brand standards. 
  • A successful candidate will understand the “who” and the “why” of the Chiefs brand identity and will work to apply them throughout their creative. 
  • Ability to manage time on their own and prioritize projects simultaneously. Needs to bring dedication to projects both small and large. 
  • Needs to be able to see ideas from concept to implementation all while working with internal and external departments for feedback and approval.  
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a strong design portfolio to be considered for this opportunity.  Your portfolio should showcase a deep understanding of layout, typography, hierarchy, composition, visual rhythm and color theory. You are encouraged to showcase your concept development (sketches, prototyping, early drafts, etc.)
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a design-related field with 3+ years of experience. Will also consider candidates with relevant work experience.
  • Must be experienced in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, etc.) and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
