SUMMARY

The Director, Marketing Operations will lead project management and operations for key Marketing department & company-wide initiatives, helping empower the organization to achieve business objectives, and deliver desired outcomes for our fans across the BSE Global portfolio (Brooklyn Nets, Barclays Center, New York Liberty, Long Island Nets and NetsGC).  This individual will work cross-departmentally to drive complex programs to completion on brief, against timelines and within budget.  The Director will serve as a trusted resource for colleagues across the organization, working closely with business units including Basketball Operations, Ticketing, Global Partnerships, Communications, Community, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Operations, Technology, HR, Legal and Finance.  

The Director, Marketing Operations will be a true team player who is able to help transform great ideas into exceptional results in a collaborative manner.  The position will focus on streamlining workflows, refining process, fostering operational efficiency, and ensuring communication is proactive, timely and consistent across the life cycle of projects.  This role will be responsible for developing a deep understanding of the state of the business, partnering with subject area experts to formulate strategy, steering approvals, managing the project queue, and supporting the allocation of project-based resources.  This individual will serve as a centralized source of information on priority initiatives, understanding what success looks like, stewarding solutions for potential issues and ensuring the needs of stakeholders are met.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Oversee project management of tentpole, cross-functional campaigns inclusive of: developing project plans, running/recapping meetings, setting agendas, prioritizing tasks, sharing deliverables, communicating status updates to stakeholders, managing budgets/timelines and memorializing programs results.
  • Design and shape process, communication, and information flow across the organization, while integrating project leads and senior executives for strategic alignment, consultative feedback, decision-making and approvals at the optimal time for each project.
  • Lead the season planning process and development of comprehensive Marketing department resources: programming calendars, game-by-game trackers, strategy decks, process documents, project plans, budget files, recap templates, etc.
  • Analyze and optimize processes to meet business needs, looking for ways to continuously improve communication & workflows in an iterative manner.
  • Aid in the development of recaps for key initiatives, helping to synthesize the tracking and evaluation of programs into succinct reports and measurable results.
  • Steward Marketing department operational programming and information sharing: all-hands meetings, strategy meetings, off-sites, social gatherings, game night logistics, etc.
  • Oversee key vendor and agency relationships, from alignment/negotiation on contractual term, to budget management, to timely execution of deliverables.
  • Serve as the Marketing department liaison with Basketball Operations to set/lead meetings, guide planning, track projects & build project plans.
  • Operate as a centralized resource for the department with HR to help steward staff onboarding, performance reviews, training & development and goal setting.
  • Manage the budget process with Finance from annual budget submissions to consistent tracking/reporting, to vendor management.
  • Collaborate around deal negotiation and procurement with our Legal & Finance teams and third-party companies.
  • Support the Senior Vice President on various departmental initiatives, special projects, and executive leadership requests.

 

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Strong leadership skills, a team first attitude and the ability to influence outcomes with colleagues across reporting lines.
  • Proficiency in clear and proactive written & verbal communication, including the capability to effectively lead meetings and present materials.
  • Diplomacy, tact, and adaptability in interacting with people across functions and hierarchies that enables you to cultivate meaningful, trust-based relationships.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Capacity to excel in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, delivering projects on timeline and within budget.

 

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • 8+ years of experience working in Marketing, with a focus upon operations and/or project management, ideally with a brand and/or agency.
  • Expertise across the Sports, Media, and/or Entertainment landscapes a major plus.
  • Proficient in process, project management and fostering operational efficiencies: planning, prioritizing, building structure and executing a strategic vision.
  • Capable of breaking down a breadth of information into concise, well-structured, and attainable project plans and documents.
  • Intellectual curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and a thirst for learning.
  • Proven track record of making informed decisions, navigating towards consensus, delivering impactful results, and driving collaborative solutions to challenges.
  • Experience working with third party vendors and agencies, managing project scopes, billing, and deliverables.
  • PMP and/or CSM Certification is beneficial.

 

SALARY RANGE

$110.000 - $140,000

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works primarily in an office environment but upon request will be expected to travel and attend games & other events on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
