The Surf Ranch Assistant General Manager manages all deliverables related to guest experience. The AGM will ensure exceptional guest experience by managing front of house and back of house teams to provide an elevated experience to all guests and financial success of the location. The AGM will be responsible for short term planning, assisted with financial budgeting and any site related daily operations. The Surf Ranch AGM must have a thorough understanding of Food & Beverage, Hospitality, Security and Housekeeping functions. 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Customer Experience

  • Delivering a memorable, high-quality guest experience
  • Ensures Surf Ranch meets the highest standards of orderliness, cleanliness and safety
  • Oversees additional guest activities programs, special events, activities or hired entertainment
  • Promptly address guest requests and ensure resolution of customer concerns
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with the local communities, business, vendors and customers

Employees

  • Manages departments in order to attract, retain and motivate employees; hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance reviews, resolve problems, provide open communications, as appropriate. Provide leadership and direction to people leaders.
  • Sets an example to team members of commitment and process expertise

Operations

  • Ensures all office workflows and integrations are carried out in a timely and accurate manner
  • Responsible for providing leadership and assist with vision and direction for the Surf Ranch
  • Effectively assigns and delegates work to meet business objectives and goals
  • Assist with planning and implementation for any planned or unplanned shutdown, or maintenance day, including  communication with all departments, sales, and contractors
  • Collaborates with corporate and sales teams to develop relationships with vendors and potential sponsors
  • Ensuring that all operations are conducted in accordance with established procedures and policies
  • Assists with the preparation of the budget for Surf Ranch while monitoring, controls and reports on finances versus budget with the  goal of maximizing revenue and minimizing expenses while continuing to provide quality customer experiences
  • In partnership with the GM, assists in developing the  short term strategic and operational road map that transitions the business from its current stage to global commercialization.
  • In partnership with WSL Event Operations Teams support and assist with the execution of WSL sanctioned surfing events at Surf Ranch
  • Oversees  the efforts of all department heads to ensure that they are working as an integrated team in delivering against project goals
  • Develop inventory control and training programs, and departmental SOPs
  • Coordinating daily, weekly & monthly Operational tasks with the General Manager 
  • Organize staff meetings and schedule based on the needs of the business 
  • Oversee and maintain office equipment and supplies 
  • Direct daily operations, including inventory, submitting orders, customer service and cleanliness analysis 
  • Develop and document A/R procedures and policies 
  • Evaluate business needs of hardware, software, and ERP for maximum efficiency based on individual needs 

Compliance

  • Administers and ensures enforcement of all Surf Ranch and WSL rules, regulations, processes and policies
  • Overall safety of staff and visitors at Surf Ranch, which includes compliance with all regulatory (OSHA) requirements, corporate governance requirements
  • Implements Company programs and manages the operations of Surf Ranch to ensure compliance with SOPs, safety regulations and federal, state and local regulations to ensure an optimal level of service, quality and hospitality to the guest(s)
  • Communication of all incident reported to include rescues, injuries, workers compensation, and water related illnesses to senior management, legal and risk management/insurance companies

Skill / Experience / Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7-10 years working in a similar role(s) in management. Hospitality, resort, water or theme park experience preferred
  • Proven knowledge of project accounting, scheduling, budgeting, document management, contract management and cost forecasting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish effective relationships and ability to prepare presentations for executive team
  • Excellent strategic thinking and analysis skills and a proven track record of creating solutions to drive client loyalty and grow revenue
  • Versed in water safety, lifeguard and/or emergency response plans
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, with tact and diplomacy to defuse the situation, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts

Working Conditions / Physical requirements (if applicable)

  • Must be fluent in oral and written English. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, and kneeling
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
  • Outdoor work conditions will involve weather, noise, and hazardous materials
  • Required to often work extended periods of time

Salary Range: $115,000.00- $130,000.00 based on relevant experience
