The Media Technology team at Major League Baseball is looking for experienced Software Engineers that are passionate about technology, sports, and delivering solutions. The team designs, builds, and operates streaming media workflows across a variety of products and delivers content around the globe.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with other world-class engineers, product developers, and designers. You will contribute to Emmy award-winning systems and influence the innovation of products used by millions; support all 30 MLB clubs and work in a highly collaborative, results-oriented, team environment.

Using cutting edge technology, our software is used by fans, broadcasters,operation centers, ballparks, MLB Clubs and the League itself. We are looking for Software Engineers that are passionate about building new technologies for baseball and the entire sports industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 or more years experience in industry software development
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing high availability distributed systems
  • Experience building streaming media workflows for live/VOD content
  • Working knowledge of OTT technologies/specifications and streaming/broadcast media codecs, containers and standards
  • Exposure to Event Driven systems, patterns, and best practices
  • Experience working with containerized cloud platforms (Docker/Kubernetes and GCP/AWS) and infrastructure as code (Terraform)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle (requirements gathering, designing, building, testing and maintenance)
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to drive technical excellence and product development
  • Take ownership of streaming products and develop tools to continuously improve stream quality/delivery
  • Write clean, concise, modular code that is easily testable and scalable
  • Mentor early career team members

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $135,000 to $175,000.

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
