About MLS NEXT Pro

Launched in 2022 by Major League Soccer, MLS NEXT Pro is a professional men’s soccer league in the United States and Canada that completes the pro player pathway. MLS NEXT Pro continues to grow the game through innovation and diversity, bringing professional soccer to new communities and creating global opportunities both on and off the field. MLS NEXT Pro enters its second season in 2023 with 27 teams, all affiliated with MLS clubs. Seven are new to MLS NEXT Pro in 2023: Atlanta United 2, Austin FC II, Crown Legacy FC (Charlotte FC), Huntsville City FC (Nashville SC), LA Galaxy II, Los Angeles Football Club 2 and New York Red Bulls II. Additional MLS-affiliated and independent clubs will join in the years ahead, including Carolina Core FC in 2024 and Cleveland in 2025. The majority of MLS NEXT Pro matches in 2023 will be available to watch live and on-demand on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app as part of the groundbreaking partnership between Apple and MLS. Position Summary

This role is responsible for player administration as it relates primarily to player contracts, registration, and related payments.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Player administration (e.g. player international and domestic registration, player eligibility inquiries, transfers, loans, etc.)
  • Lead for league Registration Portal, including troubleshooting technical issues for internal and external partners, reporting, and developments
  • Supervise Club roster processes, including player movement and week-to-week and gameday roster submissions
  •  Point of contact for all Clubs on player-related matters (roster rules, player registration, signings, etc.)
  • Connect with US Soccer on player registration and related matters
  • Analyze on-and off-field data for various collaborators, including player trends, historical spending, roster compositions, etc.
  • Liaise with other departments on projects interacting with the league
  • Support legal and compliance function for player signings, club rosters and compliance
  • Lead all club and player compliance documents, processes, and Club adherence to policies
  • Coordinate player entry mechanism process (e.g. Trades, Discovery, Allocation Ranking) with MLS Player Relations Department
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience

Required Skills

  • Deep knowledge and curiosity about soccer
  • High-level of dedication to a quality work product and ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work optimally in a fast paced, team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing
  • Proven decision making, problem-solving, research, organizational, and writing skills
  • Meticulous with the ability to multi-task and meet targets with minimal direction
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, general data entry

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of FIFA & MLS rules and practices
  • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)
  • Must be open to travel and working non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Starting Base Salary: $75,000 - $90,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
