PRIMARY PURPOSE: Support the planning, implementation, and execution of programming that aligns with the mission, vision, and strategy of the Community Impact Department & Cleveland Guardians Charities.  Support our Player Engagement & Family Relations initiatives and programs.  Own the voice of Community Impact’s online presence (@CLEInspires social media, blogs and emails) by creating the strategy and process for content creation. Manage the development of annual Community Impact Report and execute general operations of the department including community & gameday events as necessary.  

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: 

Player Engagement

  • Support the day-to-day execution of player programs; includes coordinating details with community partners and supporting players at events
  • Support player charitable functions/events which may or may not be team related
  • Support and execute Team Executive Community programs
  • Create and manage pre-season player surveys, postseason feedback and create a seasonal player community audit
  • Provide player relations support as needed

Family Relations

  • Ongoing on-call support as needed in-season
  • Guardians Significant Others support at charitable events, including providing extensive support for the Significant Others Auction
  • Assist in coordinating family room staff schedule and support overall family room programming

Communications

  • Own the voice of CLE Inspires social media accounts – create and manage the strategy behind the accounts, create the content calendar, and manage content creation
  • Collaborate with appropriate internal teams to ensure we capture and share photo, video, and social media content on CLE Inspires accounts
  • Craft and distribute Community Impact press releases and manage media relations for identified events as assigned
  • Support players’ social channels by sharing content congruent to their personal brands
  • Create blog posts and marketing emails (for Community events & Cleveland Guardians Charities fundraising) in collaboration with Communications department
  • Manage the process to create the year-end Community Impact Review involving all Community Partners, Player Engagement, Family Relations and Cleveland Guardians Charities
  • Collaborate with Brand & Innovation department to establish survey questions to capture data points to evaluate the impact of player engagements

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or combination of education and relevant experience preferred
  • 3-5 years’ related experience in community programming and/or professional or amateur athlete brand management
  • Strong knowledge of baseball and the Cleveland Guardians
  • Previous exposure to high-profile amateur and/or professional sports; track record of dealing with athletes in a work environment
  • Experience in communications and/or public relations; advanced comprehension of environmental factors impacting news/social media today; familiarity with Cleveland market a plus
  • Exceptional skills in multi-tasking and organization

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relationship-based mindset with high patience and empathy
  • Ability to balance sometimes conflicting motivations and expectations of multiple groups simultaneously to achieve compromise and shared goals
  • Excellent oral and written communication; bilingual highly preferred
  • Ability to work extended days and hours as determined by Community Impact and Cleveland Guardians events calendar.
  • Results oriented with a focus on program metrics based on data collection and evaluation ability to collect and analyze data
  • Computer knowledge including but not limited to Microsoft 365 software tools and database management

  • Reads, speaks, comprehends, and communicates English effectively in all communications. 
  • Represents the Cleveland Guardians in a positive fashion to all business partners and the general public. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with members of the Front Office. 
  • Ability to act according to the organizational values and service excellence at all times. 
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and have a demonstrated commitment to social justice. 
  • Ability to walk, sit or stand for an entire shift. 
  • Ability to work extended days and hours, including holidays and weekends. 
  • Ability to move throughout all areas and levels of the Ballpark. 
  • Ability to work in a diverse and changing environment. 
  • Occasional physical activity such as lifting and carrying boxes up to 25 lbs.
