We are seeking an exceptional Manager of Data and Analytics to join our team at PlayVS. In this role, you will lead a team of data analysts and engineers to create and implement data-driven solutions that support our strategic objectives. In this player-coach role, you will balance managing your team of talented analysts and engineers with developing strategy and delivering key results. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the entire data function, from data acquisition to delivering actionable insights. You will work closely with cross-functional departments and stakeholders to identify business requirements and develop solutions that optimize the use of data.

 

*Lead a nimble team across analytics and data engineering that delivers immediate and outsized value to the business

*Design and implement an effective data and analytics plan, ensuring we identify the most important questions and craft a detailed execution plan to answer them while operating with imperfect data

*Partner with multiple cross-functional teams to define the measures of success and develop the analysis and reporting necessary to measure, understand, and improve these metrics through standardized dashboards and ad hoc reports

*Proactively spot patterns in our user data that identify potential blind spots and opportunities and recommend how to address them

*Develop the experimentation strategy to improve our esports competition platform continuously

*Empower the company to make informed decisions by turning our user data into actionable insights

*Answer critical questions with data and make data-driven decisions in a short timeframe

 

*Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related technical field

*1+ years experience as a people manager

*4+ years experience as a Data Analyst, ideally with competition or marketplace products

*2+ years experience working closely with Product Managers, ideally at tech startups

*Expertise using SQL to manipulate data (e.g., window functions)

*Expertise with BI Tools such as Metabase, Mode Analytics, Tableau, or Looker

*Experience using Python to clean, transform and analyze data

*Knowledge of experimentation strategy to analyze the impact of new features (e.g., A/Bs, multivariate testing, switchbacks, casual impact, etc.)

*Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges

*Strong communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to non-technical audiences and influence decision-makers

*Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment

 

*Experience with a marketplace or competitions product

*Passion for esports and education technology 

 

$132,000 - $198,000 a year

PlayVS is proud to be a remote-first company where employees can work almost anywhere within the United States. We have a simple and transparent remote-first level-based compensation structure. The salary range for this full-time remote position is $132,000 - $198,000, plus equity and comprehensive benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
