Who are we hiring?
The Coordinator Communications position will be the primary day to day contact for public relations activities in support of the Westchester Knicks strategy and key initiatives. This role will also serve as a support resource for all communications and PR initiatives with the NY Knicks. The role will assist with all media credentialing functions for the teams, as well as continuing to develop underutilized areas of publicity amongst external media while increasing and diversifying digital content and publicizing this work in external publications. On game-days, this position assists with the part-time game-night staff, assists with the monitoring of print and photo media members, and coordinates information that is disseminated to the media. The Coordinator will support the Knicks PR team in their day-to-day operations conducting research for projects, as well as working on game notes, postgame notes and the media guide.

What will you do?

  • Attend all Westchester Knicks home games and select road games and serve as the primary media contact for the team; work Knicks games as directed by supervisor
  • Produce Game Notes and postgame notes for all Westchester Knicks games, and team media guide to meet league requirements, as well as assist the NY Knicks document preparation
  • Conducts necessary research for projects and assists with the company’s community relations outreach; daily corporate press clips efforts; and scheduling and coordination of larger meetings.
  • Works cross-functionally to develop and update new media coverage (ex: website coverage, new product development, etc)
  • Assists in the execution of press announcements, including preparation and maintenance of press lists, distribution of releases, production of briefing documents and execution of press events.
  • Assists with additional publications that are distributed to the media such as with the creation of the media guide, game notes, post-game notes and press releases.
  • Responsible for operational setup of press areas at all Westchester Knicks home games and Knicks games (when directed), including direct oversight of the credentialing process; assist with other game night operations as needed.
  • Helps other team members with distribution of credentials for home games, as well league mandated media access
  • Help develop underutilized areas of publicity amongst daily and weekly newspapers, business and trade publications, local radio coverage, etc.
  • Works with PR team to help coordinate media training process, ensuring that all appropriate team executives and players are media trained as per company guidelines on an annual basis.
  • Coordinate department special events and activities as appropriate.
  • Responsible for assisting with daily public relations-department wide clips efforts, to ensure comprehensive monitoring, accuracy in coverage and prompt delivery.


What do you need to succeed?

  • 1+ years experience in a prior PR or Communications role
  • High level of energy and commitment
  • Creativity and innovation
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Exemplary verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Prior experience in fast paced environment working with tight deadline
  • Knowledge of Photoshop a plus
