Overview / Objective

The NFL Network Programming team is responsible for strategic short and long-term program planning and scheduling, day-to-day programming operations, as well as management and execution of third-party content partnerships for NFL Network. NFLN Programming works closely with all NFL owned and operated platforms (NFL+, NFL Channel, NFL.com, etc.) to curate a cross-platform programming and content strategy that optimizes consumption and asset value for the NFL. The primary function of this role is to support the NFL Network Programming team by managing many of the day-to-day program scheduling operations under the direction of the Senior Director, Programming. 

Responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for the day-to-day scheduling operations of NFL Network:
    • Maintain the Wide Orbit program scheduling system to input and communicate NFLN on-air schedule to Traffic, Formatting and Sales, ensuring all programs and commercial inventory air as scheduled
    • Working with individual show producers, create all NFLN program descriptions and distribute to internal parties and third-party distributors for EPG’s, online listings, and multi-platform guide information
    • Input NFLN program schedule in Nielsen site so NFLN can receive daily ratings
    • Oversee scheduling of VOD content across internal and external platforms
  • Coordinate program delivery between show producers and Master Control
  • Communicate breaking news plans to Master Control, Traffic and On-Air Promotions to ensure commercial logs are properly adjusted to reflect updated programming
  • Contribute to the strategic short and long-term schedule planning for NFL Network as well as emerging digital platforms like NFL+ and NFL Channel (FAST)
    • Create and maintain key business planning materials relating to NFLN programming as part of the NFL’s quarterly and annual business planning cycle
    • Identify opportunities for programming stunts and initiatives and make specific programming recommendations that will increase ratings
    • Work closely with the Audience Research group to track performance of NFLN programming initiatives and use their data to drive strategic scheduling decisions
    • Serve as primary NFLN Programming liaison to collaborate with key internal groups on a cross-platform content strategy for all NFL owned and operated platforms
  • Support third-party content partnerships by serving as Partner Manager for select content partnerships, coordinating all aspects of the production plans, marketing, sales, and digital media executions, as well as support throughout contract renewal negotiations for certain properties

Salary / Pay Range

Required Qualifications

  • 4-year degree or equivalent education; degree in communications or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of media experience required; content programming experience preferred
  • Detail-oriented with strong written/verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, incl. proficient skillset in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Passion and knowledge of football and familiarity with evolving sports media landscape

  • Potential travel (1-2 times per year)
