The Opportunity

The IT Security Analyst protects the organization's computer systems, networks, and data from potential cyber threats, unauthorized access, and breaches. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures and policies, identifying vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents. The IT Security Analyst works closely with other IT professionals and cross-functional teams to ensure the organization's information is secure and compliant with industry regulations. 

In This Role You Will

Design and Implement Security Measures 

  • Configure and manage security tools like firewalls, anti-virus software, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption tools. 
  • Monitor network traffic and access controls to identify potential vulnerabilities and unauthorized activities. 
  • Recommend and implement security improvements based on the latest industry standards and best practices. 

Vulnerability Assessment and Risk Management 

  • Oversee and/or conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests on systems, networks, and applications to identify potential threats. 
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to prioritize and remediate identified vulnerabilities. 
  • Develop risk management strategies and maintain a risk register to track and mitigate potential security risks. 
  • Stay up to date with security trends, threat intelligence, and emerging technologies to proactively address potential threats. 

Incident Response and Recovery 

  • Establish and maintain an incident response plan to ensure timely detection, investigation, and resolution of security incidents. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage security incidents and minimize potential damage. 
  • Conduct post-incident analysis to identify root causes, lessons learned, and preventive measures. 
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure business continuity during a security breach. 

Compliance and Training 

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to information security. 
  • Develop and deliver security awareness training and education programs for employees, contractors, and other stakeholders. 
  • Review and update security documentation, including policies, procedures, and guidelines. 

Collaboration and Reporting 

  • Work closely with other IT professionals, such as network administrators, system administrators, and software developers, to integrate security practices into daily operations. 
  • Collaborate with external vendors and partners to address security-related issues and implement security solutions. 
  • Provide regular updates and reports on the organization's security posture to management and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as required.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or CISSP, CEH, OSCP, or CISA.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT security, network administration, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of information security principles, practices, and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption, and secure coding.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including: Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.

Nice to Have: 

  • Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or GIAC, are highly desirable.
