JOB SUMMARY

MLB’s Content Distribution team is responsible for the distribution and monetization of MLB’s local rights, Direct-to-Consumer products, and MLB/NHL Network across both traditional and digital platforms. We are seeking a candidate at the Director level to lead analysis of deal valuation and pricing, including working closely with the distribution deal team during negotiations and the formation of distribution strategy, with a focus on the distribution of MLB club’s local rights. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys complex financial modeling and providing strategic guidance based on those insights for high-value distribution contracts.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Developing deep knowledge of the local sports rights landscape, including market-based pricing and packaging structures
  • Developing financial models to analyze the economics of distribution deals, including iterative evaluations throughout the negotiation process
  • Conducting league and industry research to prepare financial scenarios
  • Preparing presentations for senior management
  • Ad hoc analysis and special projects 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance, MBA a plus
  • 10+ years of experience working in a highly analytical environment (i.e.: investment banking, business development, consulting, or other strategy groups). Experience working with local sports rights distribution models a plus.
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills. Must be comfortable creating informed, variable models from scratch utilizing varying inputs from large data sets

  • Detail oriented and able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced, high-exposure environment

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $155,000 - $185,000.

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
